Tired. Confused. Lurgy. Cough. Painnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn. Sleep.
Did we sleep??? A little. Feeling numb but ok, time to get out and see some of this mental city. Whilst chowing on some crazy noodles the other day, a lovely gentleman chatted to us and recommended we visit the botanical gardens, so we head out on foot…bad idea, 35ºC heat, muggy, and stupidly tired…not a great combo. But we think it’s about 30 mins away so no stress. Didn’t realise that the gardens are 156 acres and we’d be completely worn when we get there from walking! Anyway, saw some stunning plants, gardens, lakes, waterfalls, ORCHIDS! Oh my god the orchids. Nick and Gavin we’re also out and about on sight seeing trip, so they met us at the gardens and we spent the rest of the day with them checking stuff out…went to the bay, took lots of pics, met some crazy guys we had met at the festival in the bay, Nick did some video shooting with them which they LOVED! Did some shopping, man the shops here are mental, I’m a bit of a cooking freak so spent most of the time in the kitchen ware department…WOW…the best knives, space ship noodle makers, giant woks, millions of unidentified electric appliances, steamers, hotpots…WOW I’M IN HEAVEN! I wont tell you what I bought as it won’t make sense…you have to see it to believe it! Hahahaha - shopping paradise…seriously and not expensive either…especially when spending Defected prize money THANK YOU DEFECTED!
Left the boys to get back to their hotel before airport, as did we, picked up the luggage and headed straight off to the airport. Our flight is delayed, so we jammily get transferred to an earlier flight, but have to pretty much RUN! Got there just in time, and saw that it was the same flight as Nick and Shovell – result! Had more laughs with them on flight, watched some of the party footage on Nick’s laptop, exchanged pics and stories and got some necessary rest. Gary got really ill on the flight, so I let him have all the seats to lie down…and upgraded myself to premium YEAH…bugged the lads for a little more then passed out…the journey was over in no time…but we still have 3 hours in Heathrow which was FREEZING and everything was closed and annoying. Just want to be home in our own bed…eventually we hit the “tierra madre” Spain…at last…what a ride…time to sleep and dream sweet memories of the best weekend of our lives…
Thank you Defected, you have made us the happiest most blessed people in house music. FOR THE LOVE OF HOUSE, FOR THE LOVE OF BEATS, FOR THE LOVE OF DANCE BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soooooooooooooooooo goooooooooooooooood! It's not often that I'm speechless. But really I am today. Can't believe what actually happened and how blessed we are that this happened to us! ZOUK Out was / is the best dance music festival EVER!!! Sorting through the millions of pics and vids now...stay tuned, the best bit of this blog is yet to come! Defected totally rocked it all night long...utterly BRILLIANT!!!
OK, had lots of “much needed” sleep now, feeling a bit ill tho and think I may be coming down with something…totally worth it though! That was the best party ever. We met Nick Navaro at the hotel, who is a totally crazy Welshy sweetheart and effortlessly funny guy (thank you again for everything Nick) along with Simon Dunmore, Yasmeen, Sam & Gavin (Copyright), Martin Solveig and Shovell at the resort restaurant, gutted to hear that Chris Martinez isn't here, he's “in quarantine” with swine flu!! We necked a few Singapore Slings (or just Slings here - haha) in his honour, got our stuff together and headed straight to the stage.

We had a convoy of golf buggies, all bathed in the mystical scents coming from Shovell's incense…I think he was chanting on the way too…maybe just mumbling nonsense! What a diamond. I rode in the buggy with the beautiful Yasmeen, giggling all the way (she must have thought I was completely mental – and she would be right).

Landed at the stage, straight up on it! What a buzz!!! Thousands of people realising Defected had landed and started to pour in. DJB from Zouk was playing some tough beats and getting the crowd bopping ready for Simon Dunmore's arrival. The booze was flowing, the beats were mesmerising and the atmosphere was just electric, amazing, something you just don't get in a club… Shovell did what seemed to be a ceremonial blessing of his drums before he started, chanting things, waving the incense and his staff over the kit…very theatrical! I think I overheard him saying ooga-ooga at one point though, so maybe he was just having a laugh with himself!
Yasmeen took to the stage and sang “Ready or Not”, which was sooooooooo smooth. I can't believe such a voice comes out of such a cute little lady! She's glowing and smiling all the way through, an utterly brilliant performance…later on in Simon's set she performed one of our favourite tunes “Glad I Found You” and pointed down to Gary and I mid chorus…MELT! J All feeling very surreal at this point…I have been a massive follower of Defected for years and here I am, standing on stage with this lot? Having a bit of a moment here!!
Martin Solveig came next and the crowd went mental, so much energy in the atmosphere now, it was electric! Actually had some stampeding at one point and almost crushed Martin...oooops! All was well…
Next up Steve Martinez…slamming tunes from him tonight, much techier set than I was expecting but loved it! The crowd was going bonkers all the way through, and so were we. Then, something magical happened.
Copyright took to the stage…and played the most uplifting, funky, totally heartfelt set I've heard live! Delving into some of my favourite classics of recent years, such as “Rej”, “He is”, “It's Alright I feel It” (I KNOW!!!!!!), and some wicked Latin beats like “La Mezcla” which totally suited the beach vibe, and ended on “Finally” WOOOOOOOOO!!! Proper singalong stuff, loved every minute of their set…which, played right through the most beautiful sunrise into full on daylight! Hats off to Sam & Gavin, they smashed it…all with the biggest smiles on their faces, they truly enjoy what they do…that's clear for all to see.

SOS & Defected Records @ ZOUK OUT, Singapore

Right, after 24 hours travelling yesterday, and partying til 6am with crazy people in Singapore at Zouk Club last night, amongst other places (found one bar where your drink is served in a hospital drip, whilst sitting in a wheelchair lit by operating theatre lights...BRILLIANT!) we danced, we laughed, we tried to figure out whether women were men, and vice versa...ate the most amazing noodles dish called Laksa...oh my...in the oldest marketplace in Singapore at 5am! Being as obsessed with food as we are about music, this trip is just the nuts!! Tito barely slept, birthday boy is seriously buzzing today! He decided to go investigating around town when I finally crashed in a heap. Wandered around, did some haggling and finally had some kip at around 11am this morning! Right, off to do a spot of shopping, then hooking up with the Defected crew on Sentosa island later on, for much fun and shenanigans...very much looking forward to seeing the Martinez Brothers, just love their energy, their climbing on top of each other mixing styles, and just their newness and freshness...can't wait to see and hear their set...cant wait to meet the boys that are Copyright either WAHOO! I have a feeling tonight is going to be off the scale! Back soon with more to report! Ciao for now, can't look at the screen any longer, eyes bleeding! Dx

WAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! We've landed and boy are we ready to party!!!!!!!!!! Sweet sweet limo to pick us up from the airport and take us to the hotel. It's only 3 hours to go til Gary's birthday...(just another brilliant fact about this trip) and we're getting ready to head out to the ZOUK Club in the heart of Singapore, to collect our Zouk Out tickets, meet Mari the marketing guru at Zouk, and of course to party the night away...courtesy of Defected...what an amazing trip so far.

Massive colossal thanks to the Defected crew for all the planning, booking, sorting and VIPing, we really are enjoying every split second of this. Fresh out of 24 hours of travelling non stop...(if you can call our state right now FRESH!) we're anticipating the night's shenanigans, ringing in Tito's birthday and hooking up with Nick and Simon and all the Defected Crew tomorrow!!! Best of luck tonight chaps in Kuala Lumpur, no doubt it will be a stormer!! Can't wait to meet you all and start this mad party at ZOUK OUT! Right, enough blab for one post...see you on the other side...(apologies if the next post is a drunken ramble!)

The day has finally arrived peeps!! We're frantically finishing off last minute bits, packing, writing lists and checking them twice...but yes, it's here...and we're absolutely elated! Off to the airport soon, as soon as we park that car, the party starts...SHOTS O'CLOCK! Watch out
Later that afternoon...
Flight from Malaga to Heathrow goes without a hitch but at Heathrow we took a wrong turn and instead of going straight through to connections, we ended up in the arrivals hall...so we rang two very very special friends of ours (Dean & Tash) to come and meet us for “Shot's O'clock” (you can probably guess what that involves)...had a great mini meet with them at the first bar we came across before the onward journey to Singapore...by this time we’d polished off half bottle of Mount Gay (West Indian rum)…what a way to start our trip!! We miss them so much living in

We had just arrived at the gym on a regular Thursday afternoon, dreading the burn of the first spinning session I had done in over 3 years. Feeling pumped though, it had to be done and the first time back is always the worst! Gary’s ready to hit the squash courts, I’m ready to hit the bikes and the phone rings, random UK number comes up…hmmm…better answer it, not likely to be a wrong number. “Hi, this is Yuki from Defected Records! I’ve got some exciting news for you!” Right, now, why would Defected Records be calling me? Screw it, its exciting news. She proceeded to tell me we had won the ZOUK Out competition to
The next 15 minutes or so are spent bouncing off the gym walls, squealing and also trying to explain what the hell was going on to our friends Ian and
Still in total disbelief. ZOUKOUT music festival in Singapore is the BIGGEST COMPETITION EVER run by Defected Records. This ultimately means that we will be travelling to
Later when we got home, I checked my email, not only have we won an all expenses paid trip to Singapore (including connecting flights from Spain to UK first!) hotels, limo transfers, £500 spending money, 2 x iPod 160Gbs (ENGRAVED with Defected logo on the back), 2 VIP tickets to Zouk Out, and 2 x Defected goodie bags! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!! Defected Records had billed it as their biggest competition to date and they weren’t kidding. It was now time to tell the world, get the new SOS website finished so we can blog our whole journey, and go go go go go get stuff DONE! We spent the next week bragging to all our mates and Facebook peeps that we had won...hahahahaha!

Many thanks to my good friend Stevie “Seizure” Adams for pointing me in the direction of Yass’ latest release (I won’t) and the usual heaps of inspiration from Mr DeanJay (Save Our Soul, Assumption and various others).
Soulful…uplifting…deep…it’s all about the house! We’ll soon be announcing details of our summer parties so watch this space. P.S. One of my decks is playing silly buggers, so any CD deck donations are more than welcome. As the mix is live (with these decks) it may be a little messy in places but…we’re amongst friends.

Greetings Deep and Soulful house lovers from the Save Our Soul camp. It’s been a long time and unfortunately other factors have swayed me from getting a timely mix out to you guys…but I’ve finally done it. This 2 HOUR mix brings about a magical mystery tour through deep n soulful tracks old and new from the deep tribal tones of Marlon D through to the seriously soulful smoothness of Tyrone Ellis and Kenny Bobien with tracks dating from 2002 up to present day.

Put it on before you go out or when you and your friends get back from the clubs and enter “the after party”. REMEMBER: Join the Save Our Soul group for info about the fantastic summer we have lined up Save Our Soul - Deep and Soulful House

Although we’ve been quiet of late we’d like to let you know that we’re still bubbling in the background and getting geared up for the onslaught of summer. The start of summer also coincides with Save Our Soul’s first brithday so kleep you eyes peeled for what is promising to be a big “celebratory” event.
Although we’ve been operating in the background it seems the SOS word continues to spread as today we reached 1700 members on our Facebook group. Smiles all round in the SOS camp.

SOS would like to wish all our members, listeners, friends, and family and very very merry christmas and an absolutely wonderful 2009. We’d like to thank all those who have supported us in any shape or form over the last, and indeed our first, 7 months of bringing this wonderful music to you all.
It’s given us the greatest of pleasure and I only hope that you’ve enjoyed the good times as much as we did bringing them to you.
All the best for a 2009 filled with joy and good times.

To all our family,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have unfortunately had to cancel our Spirit of Soul Hallwoeen Party at Bonos beach.
Works being carried out at the venue were not finished on time and structural damage caused by adverse weather conditions contributed to our decision.
SOS are now looking into our next party - Check back regularly for updates.
Many apologies and Happy Halloween.
All at Save Our Soul
