DJ Tashizm's Spanish Debut (BLOG)

That was some summer!!!!

I would like to thank my SOS family for such a wonderful warm welcome.  I had the pleasure of playing my debut set at, in my eyes, the best soulful house party on the coast, FREE YOUR MIND at the Colonial Cafe in Marbella Port with the SOS crew.  Having experienced the previous parties I was so excited to be a part of the crew, it always being a success, I felt privileged to be asked to play at FREE YOUR MIND IV (20th Aug).  My set was full of deepness & vocals, as people were starting to arrive, I kept noticing the expressions on their faces, shocked to see a female DJ up there! But within minutes they got their groove on, so I knew I was doing my job well.  Thank you SOS for giving me the opportunity & the confidence to start my DJ career. 

Without haste I agreed to play along side Tito Pulpo & DeanJay once again when they invited me to play at the DEEP HOUSE Vol. 2 party at Siboney's in Coin (inland from Marbella), a great place to throw a party, with a massive dancefloor, outside patio area & staff that were fantastic. SOS were venturing out into the "campo" (countryside) and what a response they had!  The crowd immediately realized what they had been missing out on, when the dancefloor began to fill I knew straight away that another event in Coin is a must.  I eased them into the night with a selection of soulful house, but as i began playing I realized that these are they kind of party people that want hear that Deep stuff, so I switched it up for the last part of my set.  Ready to hand over to DeanJay  & Tito Pulpo who then continued to please the crowd over & over again. The dancefloor was chocka....& I was in my element!!!  Hot & sweaty?  Yes, didn't help that the aircon had just broken! It was but none of the party goers even care to notice as the music was overtaking them.  Another amazing night to remember...

SOS LIVE (Internet Radio Broadcasting live video & audio) - I had the honor of being a special guest DJ on DeanJay's 'ALL HOUSE'  show.  Someone in the chatroom that night, named us "The Power House couple", it made me chuckle, but hey...it is what it is I suppose!!  On a Monday night, people come home from their first day back at work after fun filled weekends all over the globe and what more could they ask for than to be blessed with the sweets sounds of SOS Radio.  I did the first half of the show, still buzzing from another top weekend with the Costa crew I decided to keep it deep.  I loved every minute of the show, just being able to interact with our very loyal listeners and share the love of music & have a good banter with them all is just what we all need after the antics from the weekend and stresses of the day from work.  Watch the debut session below:

A bit about me......

I began mixing some of my favorite tunes less than a year ago, never really intending on playing out, but as time went on, I & other people around me started to realize that i was on to something.  With perseverance, practice & the teachings from my wonderful & talented boyfriend, DeanJay, I started to progress very quickly.  I have a wide range of music that tickles my ears.  From a child my parents had music on a lot, so I was introduced to some amazing music from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Georgie Fame,Tamala Motown, The Who & even the Ink Spots.  As I grew older I would listen to R&B, Johnny Gill, Keith Sweat, Luther Vandross & Alexander O'Neil.  Then when Acid House was born (which my Dad introduced to me!)I was hooked and my journey of dance music began.

My sets are filled with a range of different beats, I love really Deep House, but with a little something extra, low riding basslines with random sounds to keep your ears on the ball at all times.  Although I'm still finding my own style, my first mix that I did "Dawn of Tashizm" was very soulful, which is where my heart is at, with the likes of Andy Caldwell, Lisa Shaw, Colette, Nathan Haines & Marquess Wyatt.
